Frequently Asked Questions

  • All children enrolling with us must either submit a Letter of Intent to Homeschool to their local school district or be accepted into the EFA program. We are happy to provide an example of the letter upon request and can guide you through the process!

  • Peapod Place operates as a homeschool learning center. Families enrolled at Peapod Place maintain responsibility for homeschooling under NH’s homeschool laws, while we provide a structured, guided learning environment during the week.

Our programs are all “drop-off” style so children are dropped off at the beginning of the day (9:00am) and picked back up at the end of the day (3:00pm).

  • Our school-year program is designed for children approximately ages 5-10 years. We work in a mixed-age group, which allows for collaboration, peer learning, and individualized support.

  • Peapod Place is intentionally small. Enrollment is limited to ensure a calm environment, strong relationships, and individualized attention for each child.

  • We use a blend of thoughtfully selected, literature-rich curricula inspired by Charlotte Mason principles. Materials may vary form year to year, but our academic foundations remain consistent.

  • Core academics - including language arts, math, history, geography, and Spanish - are taught through guided lessons, discussion, reading, and practice.

Practical skills, creativity, and outdoor learning are integrated naturally into our academic work rather than taught as isolated subjects. This allows children to see connections across disciplines and apply learning in meaningful ways.

  • Each day includes a balance of:

    • Academic instruction and guided work

    • Reading and discussion

    • Hands-on projecs and real-world application

    • Outdoor time and movement

While our days follow a consistent rhythm, there is flexibility for curiosity, conversation, and deeper exploration.

  • Outdoor learning is an important part of our program but Peapod Place is not exclusively outdoors. Children spend time both inside and outside, using outdoor experiences to support and enrich academic learning.

  • We focus on meaningful progress and understanding rather than traditional grades. Families receive regular communication about their child’s growth, strengths, and areas of development.

For families utilizing EFA (which requires beginning and year end assessment testing) we typically offer to host the children on specific dates for the actual completion of the test. Parents are fully responsible for purchasing and registering all assessment tests (CAT/SAT/etc.) ahead of time and providing us with the necessary information to have te children access the tests.

  • Peapod Place is a great fit for children who:

    • Enjoy reading, hands-on work, and discussion

    • Benefit from small-group learning

    • Thrive in a calm, supportive environment

    • Learn best when concepts are connected to real life

  • Peapod Place may not be the right fit for families seeking:

    • Large-group classroom settings

    • Highly competitive or test-driven environments

    • A rigid, fast-paced academic approach

  • Yes. We offer a summer program called A Season to Grow, an 11-week garden-based experience rooted in integrated, real-world learning.

  • Enrollment begins with a conversation to ensure Peapod Place is a good fit for both the child and the family. Space is limited, and programs often fill quickly.

We encourage interested families to reach out early.
