The School Year Learning Program at Peapod Place offers a calm, intentional homeschool setting for children ages 5-10. Our program is designed for families seeking strong academic foundations paired with meaningful, real-world learning - all within a small, supportive group environment. We follow a literature-rich, Charlotte Mason-inspired approach that values depth over speed, curiosity over busywork, and understanding over memorization..
A Thoughtful Homeschool Learning Environment
Our Academic Foundation
Our program is built on carefully selected curricula that emphasize quality literature, strong skill development, and meaningful understanding. All curriculum materials are included in tuition.
Core areas of study include:
Math
Skill-building and practice supported through a blend of online tools and hands-on resources.
Language Arts
Reading, writing, grammar, and narration rooted in rich literature and thoughtful discussion
History & Geography
Story-driven exploration of people, places and cultures using engaging books and guided conversation
Spanish
Introductory language study using an age-appropriate curriculum that builds confidence and familiarity
Who Thrives Here
Our school-year program is a great fit for families who:
Value literature-based and thoughtful academics
Prefer small-group learning over large classrooms
Want learning to feel purposeful and connected
Appreciate a calm, intentional pace
How Our Days Work
Each school day includes a blend of focused academic learning, discussion, hands-on work, and time spent outdoors. While our rhythm is structured, it allows space for curiousity, conversation, and deep engagement with ideas.
Children work together in a mixed-age group, allowing for collaboration, mentorship, and individualized support. Lessons are guided, but children are encouraged to think independently, ask questions, and make connections across subjects.
How Life Skills Are Integrated
At Peapod Place, learning does not stop at textbooks. Practical skills, creativity, and outdoor experiences are woven naturally into our academic work rather than taught as isolated subjects.
Children apply what they are learning through experiences such as:
Cooking projects connected to cultural or geographic studies
Art inspired by history, literature, or the countries we explore
Nature observation and journaling tied to reading, writing, and science concepts
Practical problem-solving and shared responsibilities
This integrated approach helps children see how learning connects across subjects - and why it matters.
Why This Approach Works
By blending academics with real-world experiences, children:
Develop deeper comprehension and retention
Build confidence and independence
Learn to make connections across subjects
Stay engaged through purposeful, meaningful work
Our goal is not to rush through material, but to cultivate thoughtful capable learners who understand why they are learning - not just what.
Enrollment & Next Steps
Peapod Place operates as a homeschool learning center and partners with families who have chosen to homeschool. Enrollment is limited to maintain a high-quality learning environment.
If you’re interested in learning more, we’d love to connect.
The Learning Environment
Peapod Place is intentionally small. Our limited group size allows for individualized attention, strong relationships, and a calm classroom atmosphere.
Children are known, supported, and encouraged to grow at their own pace - academically, socially, and personally. We prioritize respectful communication, cooperation, and a sense of belonging within our learning community.
Our curriculum evolves thoughtfully year to year, allowing us to respond to student needs while staying rooted in literature-based learning.
-
A homeschool learning center is a safe comfortable place which provides children access to an alternative educational option as they enjoy the company of other independent learners. For us, we operate our learning center from our family home which has been set up in numerous ways to support learners.
-
All children enrolling with us must submit a Letter of Intent to Homeschool to their local district. We are happy to provide an example of this letter upon request and can guide you through the process!
-
All of our programs are ‘drop off’ programs. Parents drop children off in the morning for the start of the program and pick them back up in the afternoon at the end of the program.

Homeschooling, whether at your home or at our center, is a bit different than public or ‘mainstream’ education. Children are required by law to learn various subjects but homeschool laws only specify that they need to be learned or taught at some point during the child’s overall education. They do not all need to take place every day or even every year.
Our program covers the major subjects (Math, ELA, Science, History Geography, Spanish) and also incorporates many other subject areas such as Art, Nature Study and Cooking which are woven in to the core subjects!
The planned weekly schedule for 2026 - 2027 includes:
Monday: LA / History
Tuesday: Math / Geography
Wednesday: LA / Science
Thursday: Math / Spanish

We will occasionally be using screens as tools to view short video clips or to access other online content that supports our daily topic.
We are open to children utilizing online learning tools for subjects such as Math or ELA, since children advance in these areas at very varied rates. The individualized nature of the online tools allow children who need extra time to hang back and those who are ready to jump ahead to also do so.
If you would like your children to utilize these tools (Prodigy Math/ELA, Reading Express, Khan Academy, Duolingo, etc.), you will be responsible for providing a suitable device for your child to access them.
We do have math workbooks and a physical Language Arts curriculum we will be working through, should you desire your child to not use screen time for these. Personally, we feel a combination of both is helpful to children.
-
Our program will follow a loose daily rhythm where we have more of a “flow” as opposed to a strict time centered schedule.
A typical day for us might look like:
Free Play
Snack Break
Subject 1
Lunch Break
Subject 2
Free Play

We are happy to offer before and/or aftercare on a case by case basis for an extra fee to those parents whose work hours would make our regularly scheduled pick up and drop off times difficult. Please email us and let us know your needs- We are happy to provide a quote and feel that our fees are very reasonable!
-
We have a 8 child per day maximum for children enrolled in our programs.
-

As we run our programs from our home, we feel that we should address any potential allergy concerns up front.
Animals: We are a pet-friendly home and have several animals including a small dog, guinea pig, hedgehog and various small reptiles residing indoors. Outdoors, we have three miniature pet pigs and also ducks.
Food: We have gluten, peanuts, tree nuts and other allergens present in our home. If your child has food allergies, we will do our very best to avoid cross contamination but unfortunately cannot guarantee it.
If you have further allergy concerns, please reach out to us with additional questions.
-
Send us an email to request our enrollment packet.
In addition to the enrollment packet, you will be sent a separate invoice for an initial (non-refundable) tuition deposit (5% of the total program tuition).
This deposit reserves your child’s spot in our program. The deposit amount will be applied to the first months tuition payment due in September.
